Mintz Company - About Us

A Brief History of Our Company

Ron Mintz and daughter Donna Mintz

The company history starts in 1936 when Louis Mintz, grandfather to Ron, incorporated The Mintz Company as a manufacturer of castings for the canvas awning industry. His son, Harry, Ron’s father, came into the business and expanded into steel venetian blinds and canvas awnings.

During the Second World War, due to the scarcity of steel, wooden venetian blinds became the major product line. During this same time The Mintz Co. converted to “war effort status” as a major supplier of parachutes and mess kits to the U.S. Air force in Europe. Soon after the war, The Mintz Co. re-established its presence in the now popular aluminum venetian blind market.

Entering into business in 1959 after graduation from Western Reserve University, was the third generation – Harry’s son, Ron. To evolve the company product further, Ron designed and manufactured aluminum storm windows and doors to complement their current window products. As the growth of the company continued, improvement in materials soon replaced the existing aluminum with vinyl. Vinyl windows became the widespread choice for customers.

Today, Ron and daughter Donna supply and install vinyl replacement windows for the commercial and residential community within a 200 mile radius of Cleveland, Ohio where they have over 250,000 windows currently installed.
